CLEAN MY MARQUEE INVESTS IN CONTINUOUS MARQUEE & INDUSTRIAL TENT WASHING MACHINE
Clean My Marquee, part of the Bisley Marquee Hire Group, have invested in a new state of the art Continuous Marquee & Industrial Tent Washing Machine from Straight Eight Engineering.
Chris Ashmead of Bisley Marquees identified a gap in the market for year-round contract cleaning covers for other marquee & industrial tent companies. “We want to offer a professional cleaning service that marquee companies can rely on. We not only want to be able to offer them the best standard of cleaning but also the highest level of customer service. Our customers need to know they can rely on us to get their covers cleaned when needed on a fast turnaround, even at short notice”.
Bisley Marquees already have a S8E5000 Marquee & Industrial Tent Washing Machine from Straight Eight Engineering which has worked faultlessly and looked after their covers for many years, but with the addition of Clean My Marquee they needed more cleaning capacity. It was at this point Chris approached Peter Bonham Christie the Director and owner of Straight Eight to discuss the possibilities.
“When Chris approached me I had the answer immediately as we had recently finished a project with Fews Marquees where we had designed and built a state of the art continuous cleaner known as the S8E6000TT ” This machine takes the 30 years of Peter’s experience in the industry, utilises all the best bits from the S8E5000 & 6000 range but with a very different and advanced process, whilst still keeping the machine simple with little maintenance or things to go wrong.

Unlike the ’standard’ washing machines which rely on top rollers to load covers then unroll through brushes, rinse sprays and dryers the TT (Twin Tank) model pulls the cover through, from here it goes into a large pre wash soap solution, then through the first set of washing brushes which remove the dirt, before the cover goes into the rinse tank where it is rinsed of all soap solution. The cover then enters the second set of brushes which start to remove the water and then the last set of brushes which are neoprene to ‘polish’ the cover before going through the drying knives and out the other side. The cover then goes directly into a drying chamber where it travels up and down before coming out clean and 100% dry. Each cover is attached to the next meaning the machine is never stopped and washes at 4 to 5 metres per minute with a perfect result.

Ian Fews from Fews Marquees said “the machine is brilliant, when Peter approached me and showed me his design I realised it would be good but never expected the final product to be this good. It is revolutionary and has meant every cover gets cleaned every time it is used and with the price of PVC, looking after your covers is not only good for the end user but a necessity to keep in business. We have also had some extra gains which were not considered in the design process but as the first set of brushes are directly above the wash tank all the dirt goes directly into this unlike the standard machine where it falls into the rinse water. This means the rinse water is always clean and there are absolutely no streaks. It was a big investment but I am very very glad we made it as it has revolutionised the way we look after our PVC”
Chris from Clean My Marquee and Peter from Straight Eight will be exhibiting together this year at the Showman’s Show on Stand 138 Avenue A, opposite Fews Marquees.
